Video editing
> We used capcut to edit the music video since it was the most accessible software for us as both aisha and I well knew how to use the software. we used to use capcut's app on our phone for editing small media assignment given by our media teacher in the previous two years. Aisha suggested that we edit on the phone as it saves time. Since i used capcut's pc version to edit my AS project, i figured out it had alot more options than the phone version specially colour grading which changes the entire concept of the video.
> We started off with transferring all the data from the phone and camera to the laptop which took forever and wasted so much of our time so since we were editing together at school we were not left with much time to edit the video however we did start it.
> I downloaded the rest of the clips from home to save time for editing for the next day.
then we easily started editing by syncing and shortening the clips.
> My inspiration for starting the music video was from britney spears mv " baby one more time". so we had to add classroom ambient sounds.
> we attached all the videos together and cut scenes according to the music. our main goal was to sync every shot with the music as the beat changes the video scene also changes.
> The video had requires cut scenes and transition , for changing from hallway to garden capcut had many transition options so after looking for the perfect transition we applied many and merged the two scenes together.
In this scene both the videos were merged together |
> colour grading we felt like was the main part of our editing process as it quickly transforms the mood of the video. for the present day scenes we minimized saturation and increased the blackpoint of the video and decreased brightness and slowed down multiple clips to sync with lyrics of the songs and further even more steps.
> For the colour grading of the flashback part we did quite the opposite of the present day scenes, we increased saturation and brightness etc to give the vibrant dreamy effect making it look like a dream but did not entirely make it the the opposite ofother scenes or else it wouldn't have matched and we wanted the flashbacks to look like a montage so we aded 20+ clips together for this scene and each clip goes by very fast.
> for the fight scene we gave the video a vintage effect to represent it as a flashback too, we slowed down the clips to match with the lyrics of the song.
> since it is a music video it does not require as much of sound editing, we had to download the music which we downloaded through mp4 on google and attached it with the video clips.
> For the first scene we needed classroom ambient sound which we recorded while editing in our common room since it was so crowded and everyone just kept talking very loudly so it was the perfect oppurtunity to record it. as for the bell ringing part we found it from youtube and attached it. we adjusted the volumes according to the requirements and enahanced it.
Finally, after much chaos and fights we were able to finish the editing process and our video was ready to be presented to our sir and all we needed was his approval.
